ABOUT

Defining the home appliance CX of tomorrow

frog helped to conceive a leading German home appliance brand “Iconic UI” – a future-looking design language that reimagines the home appliances experience for premium customers by doubling down on visually rich interfaces and innovative features. After a highly successful user testing in China, the brand expanded the scope of “Iconic UI” to global reach and reengaged frog to help scale the design to a new generation of premium products.

Complexity laid in their vast product portfolio, which included 8 product categories, each comprised of multiple value classes bringing variances in display sizes, touch capbilities and convergent UX dependency (physical controls).

We defined an ecosystem approach to break down category silos: By identifying common user goals; the team defined shared UX Patterns & UI components to scale them across a global portfolio. This approach gave birth to a design system, harmonizing UX patterns across product categories, helping the client to realize one coherent brand experience across different products & value classes. The final outcome establishes design adaptability across devices, displays, and technologies. It defines interaction patterns and outlines navigation models and user flows. Visual aspects, including generic layout templates, key screens, and responsive behaviors, are precisely defined, forming a holistic design framework that can be adapted to all appliances. Furthermore, the design framework has been thoroughly documented on the brand management platform Frontify, enabling the internal teams to maintain consistency within silos of product categories.
